Getting Started

Prerequisites

Before using X Terminal, you’ll need:

  • Python 3.10 or higher
  • A free X Developer account (https://developer.x.com/)
  • X API credentials (consumer key/secret and access tokens)

Installation

Setting up X Terminal is straightforward:

Command Structure

X Terminal uses a simple command structure:

Global Options

These options work with any command:

  • --verbose: Shows detailed API responses for debugging
  • --help or -h: Displays the full help menu with examples

Core Commands

Posting to X

The post command lets you send tweets with various options:

Options include:

  • -i or --image-url: Attach an image via URL (works with Cloudflare Images)
  • --reply-to: Specify a tweet ID to reply to
  • --dry-run: Preview your post without actually sending it

Deleting Tweets

Remove tweets from your timeline with the delete command:

  • --no-confirm: Skip the confirmation prompt

Messages longer than 280 characters are automatically split into a thread of tweets, with images attached to the first tweet in the sequence.
